Our History
Duane’s Power Tongs has been operating in Alberta for 15 years offering professional affordable casing services to the oilfield since 1995. Although Duane Laye the owner of Duane’s Power Tongs, may no longer run the casing into the ground for you, he is still very much hands on in the company maintaining the fleet of 4 trucks and managing the company. Duane started out in 1995 with just two trucks and two operators with himself as one operator. It wasn’t until 2005 that he decided to expand and bought a third and fourth truck to join the fleet. Even in a booming economy with so much turnover, Duane has managed to keep long term employees.

Safety First
Duane’s Power Tongs prides themselves in the fact that they have never experienced a lost time accident. All of Duane’s Power Tongs employees and subcontractors complete rigorous safety training and must possess numerous safety certifications before they are allowed to perform duties for Duane’s Power Tongs. Duane’s power tongs also maintains an excellent WCB rating and is a member of numerous environmental and health and safety committees. At Duane’s Power Tongs, new and innovative ways of operating in a safe and timely manor are priority number one.
We also maintain a COR through ENFORM. All of Duane’s Power Tongs employees and subcontractors are IRP 16 trained and compliant. We also believe in upgrading and re-training whenever possible and whenever an opportunity arises to better ourselves and our company.

Equipment
All of Duane’s Power Tongs equipment is tested and maintained on a regular basis. All certifications and inspections are complete.

Our Tongs
All casing tongs are lighter, narrower but still specified for the torque that makes running casing or tubing on a smaller rig floor or in a tighter space much safer and faster than with a traditional power tong.
This is an example of one of our Power Tongs. Although the Power Tong is small, it still offers the strength of a conventional power tong but is much more versatile. This tong gives Duane’s Power Tongs a leg up on other power tong companies in that we are completely prepared to work in confining spaces.
The Duane’s Advantage
Duane’s Power Tongs has adapted with the times and also understands the need to sustain our environment. Duane’s Power Tongs has two Safety Programs; One being the Certificate Of Recognition (C.O.R.), which is maintained and audited yearly through ENFORM. The second Safety Program is done in conjunction with I.S. Networld and their Review And Verification Services (R.A.V.S.)
